Mailing Recruitment Packets
Recruitment packages CANNOT be taken or mailed to HAPA (HAPA does not have a mailing address).
Recruitment packages should only be mailed, delivered, or emailed to the women writing letters of recommendation (RIF/REC) or letters of support (LOS).
Most sororities and Rec. writers prefer to have packets emailed to them. Check with your Rec. writer for her preference.
ASKING FOR LETTERS OF SUPPORT/REFERENCE LETTERS:
The Houston Alumnae Panhellenic Association (HAPA) strongly encourages Potential New Members (girls going through recruitment at their chosen university) to adhere to the May 1 deadline for submission of recommendations and letters of support to all universities nationwide, regardless of their recruitment dates and/or posted recruitment deadlines.
This May 1 deadline is to help PNMs going through recruitment at universities nationwide to maximize their options with early exposure to collegiate chapters. It is also out of respect for the time spent by the alumnae of HAPA who work tirelessly on behalf of thousands of PNMs.
Ask your mother’s friends, teachers/staff, church/place of worship friends, neighbors, those you work/babysit for, and friends who are older and already in sororities - these are all great resources!
A personal recommendation is always best! If your residence is not in Harris County you should contact the alumnae panhellenic where you live.
Tips for finding references:
- Find out which sororities are on your campus, those are the ones you will need references for.
- Check with your friends who are going through recruitment, ask them who wrote their recommendations.
- Check with teachers, neighbors, friends of your parents, moms of your friends, church friends…you would be surprised how many women are in sororities.
- If you have friends who are currently in a sorority at a university, ask them.
