The Barbara Bush Literacy foundation is HAPA’s new community service partner, replacing Reading is Fundamental.  HAPA members are encouraged to check out the Foundation’s mission and learn more at the website https://www.barbarabushhouston.org/. In the spring, HAPA will have volunteer opportunities to distribute books as part of the My Home Library Program.  At these events, children are provided with 5 age appropriate books to take home and create their own home libraries.

Those who are interested are also encouraged to sign up to become Reading Round Up monthly volunteers or fill-ins.  Volunteers visit schools monthly to read aloud to the kids. The foundation has requested additional volunteers to serve as fill-ins for the months that regular volunteers are unavailable.  To become a volunteer, fill out the application at the following website: https://www.barbarabushhouston.org/readingroundup.

The foundation also has a Ladies for Literacy Guild.  HAPA’s Deborah Dunkum is the current president elect
